DGSL Monthly Meetings & Important Dates

DGSL hosts monthly meetings on the first Thursday evening of each month at 6:30pm unless noted otherwise. Please see below for more information regarding the upcoming meetings and other important dates for the birth community.

2021 Meeting Schedule

Thursday, January 7th, 2021 @ 6:30pm: After the Holidays Celebration
Let's celebrate! November and December can be busy with all the commitments we have around the holiday season - let's celebrate in January when the winter is still cold and dark but companionship from fellow doulas is no less needed. Please bring something to share that doesn't cost a thing -- it could be a favorite recipe, latest favorite poem, book title, movie, artist, etc.)

February 2021 @ 6:30pm: Peer Review (MEMBERS ONLY PLEASE)
Peer reviews can offer a unique opportunity to share the ups and downs of our field with other doulas in the thick of it. For some, it's a chance to think back on a particularly difficult birth experience for you and to get some feedback going forward. For others it can be a celebration of a truly positive birth experience with a particular birthing location, provider, etc. There are usually highs and lows and it's a special time to be able to support one another.

May 2021 @ 6:30pm: Doula the Doula Night (MEMBERS ONLY PLEASE)
Come let yourself be pampered! Self-care is so important to all of us. Tonight is a special night to indulge and enjoy a few treats just for you! Renee Davidson, LCSW, RYT, of Empowered Spaces will be nurturing us with Yoga Nidra, a guided mediation practice.

For all doulas and childbirth educators -- let's share tips and information about the services we each can provide for clients in the postpartum period. We all know how each doula brings their own unique experiences and knowledge to the job for births -- the same goes for postpartum support! The postpartum period typically covers the first year post birth so there are tons of resources to share. Please bring a snack to share.

Gina Rocchio-Gymer, MSW, LCSW, will help us resolve our experiences that are "not what we expected or sometimes traumatic". Gina owns Wellness Within Counseling and she specializes Maternal Mental Health including issues of infertility, miscarriage, infant loss, birth trauma, and perinatal mood disorders. Please bring a snack to share.
