Rebecca is currently on maternity leave after welcoming her second son in June 2019. She hopes to continue work as a lactation counselor in the summer of 2020.
Rebecca Lev has been a birth and postpartum doula serving clients in the Greater St. Louis area since 2012. She completed her birth doula training through DONA in January of 2012 and went on to train as a postpartum doula in May 2015. In April of 2018, she continued her education to better serve postpartum clients by attending the Lactation Counselor Training Course through Healthy Children's Center for Breastfeeding to become a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC). Rebecca is available for daytime postpartum doula shifts as well as breastfeeding specific Home visits as a CLC. She currently sits as the website manager on the board of Doulas of Greater St. Louis.
After the birth of her own son in September 2016, Rebecca has an even clearer understanding the needs of new parents and families after the birth of a new baby. She has found that many families experience excellent care and support from their medical provider and birth doula throughout the pregnancy and leading up to and during the birth. Yet sometimes these same families find themselves underprepared, exhausted, and in need of help and support in immediate postpartum time after coming home from the hospital or birth center or when the birth team leaves after a homebirth. In a culture where grandparents, aunts and uncles, siblings and cousins are often spread out across the state, country and even globe, a postpartum doula like Rebecca can gently nurture parents with the extra support, guidance and help to feel confident as new family in the form of lactation support, best practices in infant care, feeding new parents, light housekeeping and even offering an opportunity for tired parents to nap or shower. This experience has shifted her passion for doula work to focus solely on serving postpartum doula clients. She has served over 25 families as a birth and postpartum doula and looks forward working with your family!
This past summer, Rebecca and her husband, Jordan, welcomed their second son, Micah to the family. Rebecca lives in the Tower Grove South neighborhood of St. Louis with her husband, three-year-old son, Eliot, and new baby. She is an avid baker of sourdough bread, loves to get lost in a good book, or get her feet muddy on a hike in the woods. She spends as much time as possible outdoors, often just across the street in Tower Grove Park.
